Welcome to Arcola's Gifted Seminar Program!
Arcola's gifted learners have the option of selecting from a variety of gifted seminars that can be explored in place of specials. Gifted seminars are short units (each lasting half a marking period) that allow the student to delve into a specific topic or competition. Gifted students can choose to participate in one gifted seminar for half of the marking period, or they can opt to stay in their assigned specials area class for the entire marking period. My hope is that the gifted student will be both challenged and inspired as we learn together in our classroom community. If a student prefers, they may pursue an area of independent study by submitting an independent study proposal. Students should complete a separate independent study proposal form for each independent project that they intend to pursue. In order to be approved, proposals must be complete and must describe a meaningful learning experience. Those students conducting independent study projects must be willing to be assigned to either the first half or second half of the marking period. Proposals are due one week prior to the beginning of each marking period; proposals for first marking period are due by September 16.
