Marking Period 3: Second Session
Gifted Seminar Description: Across the US border in Tijuana, Mexico are hundreds of white crosses, each that bear the name of people who have died while attempting to cross into the US illegally. Why do people risk their lives to attempt to cross into the United States? In this gifted seminar you will have a chance to ponder that question as you work with others to recreate a portion of the La Llaga (“the wound”) border wall, read and discuss readings about immigration, and interview a first generation immigrant.
- Enthusiastic participation in all learning activities, including making a replica of La Llaga.
- A visual representation of something that you would be willing to die for. This will be placed on our border wall.
- A podcast script and recording that includes an interview of a first generation immigrant.
